How to sync monday.com files to Google Drive
Use DriveSync to copy files from a monday.com Files column to Google Drive automatically after an upload or when you click a button.
Understand the three mappings#
The trigger starts the automation. The source tells DriveSync which files to copy. The destination tells it where those files belong. These may refer to different columns.
| Setting | What to choose |
|---|---|
| Trigger column | The column whose change should start copying |
| File source | The Files column containing the content |
| Folder | The Link column holding the item’s Drive folder URL |
Copy files after an upload#
- 1
Select the template that syncs files when a column changes.
- 2
Choose your Files column as the trigger if uploads should start the action.
- 3
Choose the source Files column and the destination folder-link column.
- 4
Add the automation to the board.
- 5
Confirm the item already has a folder link, then upload a small file.
- 6
Open the linked Drive folder and check the copied file.
Copy files on demand#
Button templates let you copy from one file column or from all file columns on an item. These are useful for existing files or a manual handoff.
Check the direction of the workflow#
These automations copy from monday.com to Google Drive. Viewing a Drive folder inside an item is a separate feature; it does not by itself establish reverse synchronization.
Common questions
Does this sync files in both directions?
No. The standard file-sync automation copies from monday.com to Google Drive. Uploads and edits made in Drive do not sync back to a monday.com Files column.
Can I choose when files are sent to Google Drive?
Yes. Use a column-change automation for automatic copying, or a button automation when someone should decide when to copy the files. The destination folder link must exist before the action runs.
