Why are files duplicated or still in Google Drive after I delete them?
Check repeated sync actions if files are duplicated. Copies normally remain in Google Drive after deletion in monday.com; confirm any separate deletion setting.
Separate duplicates from retained copies#
A new copy appearing on every sync is different from an old Drive file remaining after its source was removed from monday.com. Describe which behavior you see before changing your automations or deleting files.
Investigate repeated duplicates#
- 1
Record one source file and the resulting files in the Drive folder.
- 2
Note the trigger and whether the duplicate appears on every run.
- 3
Review whether multiple file-sync automations point to the same destination.
- 4
Run one controlled test, then send the automation and results to support if duplicates continue.
Understand deletion settings#
The standard retention behavior keeps copies in Google Drive when files are removed from monday.com. Some accounts have a separately enabled delete-files setting that removes corresponding Drive files on a later sync. Confirm the setting and its availability for your account with support.
Test an enabled deletion workflow#
If support has confirmed deletion syncing is enabled, use a disposable test file. Copy it, remove it from the mapped monday.com column, trigger the relevant sync, and inspect the Drive result. Report the run time and account if the result differs from the confirmed behavior.
