How to rename a Google Drive folder from monday.com
Use a DriveSync rename automation with a folder created by the app. Choose its folder-link column and the column containing the new name.
Check how the folder was created#
DriveSync’s folder-renaming behavior is limited to folders created by the app. Pasting a link to a pre-existing folder does not make it an app-created folder.
Configure a renaming automation#
- 1
Choose a folder that DriveSync created and check its saved Link column.
- 2
Select a rename template triggered by a column change or an item-name change.
- 3
Map the folder-link column and the name source separately.
- 4
Change a test item’s configured trigger and inspect the name in Google Drive.
Do not rely on name matching alone#
An existing Drive folder with the same name as a board group is not guaranteed to be reused by a group-based creation automation. Test the resulting folder links and hierarchy before connecting a board to an established filing structure.
Plan changes to an existing structure#
If your workflow must reuse manually created folders or folders moved outside DriveSync, send support the intended structure and action. Confirm what is supported before running creation or move automations in bulk.
Common questions
Can DriveSync rename a Google Drive folder I created manually?
The documented rename automations work with folders created by DriveSync. Pasting a manually created folder’s URL into the board does not make it an app-created folder. Contact support if your workflow needs to reuse existing folders.
