How to automatically create Google Drive folders from monday.com
Use a DriveSync automation to create a Google Drive folder for each new monday.com item and save its link on your board.
Choose how folder creation starts#
Use a new-item template for future items, or a button template when someone should decide when a folder is created. Existing items can use the button approach.
Set the parent folder#
- 1
Open the destination folder in Google Drive.
- 2
Copy the folder URL from the browser address bar.
- 3
Paste it into the parent-folder URL field of the automation.
- 4
Select the Link column that will receive the new item folder’s URL.
Test the result#
- 1
Save the automation and create a new sample item, or click the configured button.
- 2
Wait for the folder link to appear on the item.
- 3
Open the link and confirm the location and name of the new folder.
Choose a custom folder name#
Use the custom-name template when you need an explicit naming source. The template separates the parent folder, name, and saved link. Populate the naming values before its trigger runs.
Common questions
Where does the new Google Drive folder link appear?
It is saved in the Link column you select in the folder-creation automation. Open that link to check the new folder and its location.
Can each item create a folder in a different Google Drive location?
Yes. Use the parent-folder column automation so each item supplies its own parent folder and folder name, rather than using one fixed parent for the whole board.
